Lori Getting Married!

Wow, only 143 days left, goodness sakes it's coming fast. And still for some reason I'm not really into planning. I've come up with two kind of reasons for my lack of planning enthusiasm.
One being that PJ, my dear friend, second dad, cannot come and perform the ceremony. This had been planned since I was like a sophomore in High School. I am heartbroken that he will not be able to come. I've been racking my brain trying to come up with a way to get him here but it just isn't going to work out. So now the search for a minister must begin. I have a couple ideas so we shall see.
Two, my whole 50's wedding plan has pretty much fallen through. The short dress, the 50's music, the whole 50's style is gone. So many things that I was excited about aren't going to happen so I am disappointed, majorly. But as mom keeps saying, life goes on, it's going to be just fine and you will have a beautiful wedding regardless. And I know she's right. I love my dress, I love my bridesmaids dresses, I love the flowers I picked.
There is actually a third reason...because of certain circumstances we are having to move so I can't get married here at our house as I have always wanted to under our gorgeous apple tree in our orchard. I wanted a nice simple but elegant wedding in the front yard and now that's gone too. Getting married in the church was what I wanted originally but I haven't wanted that for quite some time. Now the wedding has gotten bigger then I wanted and I'm still on the fence about that. I know it will be lovely and beautiful but still.
Have to loose 20 to 25 lbs by the time I get my dress in May. Not going to well right now. I hate working out, so that is proving to be difficult. I'm not eating like I should, so that's not good either. Must get on the ball here! No more sweets, junk food (except popcorn, can't live without it), just good healthy food. I had to order my wedding dress a size too small and my bridesmaids dress for Bobo's wedding is the same size and I can't fit into it right now either. Must loose the poundage! Fitting into my dress should be enough motivation but I'm not feeling it right now. MUST GET MOTIVATED!!!
I made Zac and I a cute little wedding website:
Super easy with a template to just fill in basically. I really like it. Need to get started on the invitations. I have everything I need for them, I just need to get started on making them!
So much to do! But I know it will get done!!! July 17 is just around the corner! AAAAHHHH!!!

Don Draper

Writer's Block: Ready for my close-up

If you could make a cameo appearance on a TV show, which show would you choose, and what type of character would you play? contest that it would be Mad Men and I would want to play oh I don't know a secretary probably.  Even though Don is now engaged to Megan, I am pretty sure he will not be completely faithful.  So, Don Draper's secretary please. LOL!
says it all

Every year I try and keep track of the books I read.  This year is no different.  I have decided that I shall keep a list of the books I want to read and then mark off those I accomplish.  I have also decided that I want to try and read books I haven't read before.  Although I know I will read at least 3 or 4 I have previously read, which I do every year.  So here is my list, those I have read previously will be a different colour.

Have Read:
North & South by Elizabeth Gaskell
The Ice Queen by Alice Hoffman
Jane Austen Ruined My Life by Beth Patillo
An Education by Lynn Barber
Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox by Maggie O'Farrell
Austenland by Shannon Hale

To Read:
Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell
The Buccaneers by Edith Wharton
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte
I Capture the Castle by Dodi Smith
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak
High Plains Tango by Robert James Waller
All Will be Revealed by Robert Anthony Siegel
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Currently I am reading Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell.  Not sure why I've chosen to read such long books, it's 644 pages long. Oh well, it will keep me busy for a while.  I would like to read at least 30 books this year.  But we shall see how it goes.  If I get to 20 I think that will be good.

Writer's Block: Sunday in the park with ____?

If you could hang out with any fictional character for a whole day, who would you choose, and why?

Fanny Price or Cassandra Mortmain.

I would choose Fanny because I want to know what the hell she was thinking about Henry Crawford and why it took her so long to realize Edmund was the one for her and he had loved her all his life!

I would choose Cassandra because I Capture the Castle is my favorite book of all time.  I want to know all about the castle and the wireless from Stephen and why she couldn't love Stephen and what was so wrong with being Simon's companion?

Oh the many questions!  Although I would be highly content to just sit in the castle with Cassandra drinking tea and listening to her wireless and sitting by the sea with Fanny talking about growing up in the Bertram house and having a horse called Shakespeare.
Zac and I @ the coast

Monday this week was a holiday, so Zac had the day off.  He actually had last Friday off too so a nice long weekend.  We decided to be productive over the holiday weekend so we went and looked at a building company we are interested in working with to build a house.
We have been talking about getting a house for some time.  Zac would live there until we get married of course.  We've looked at buying a house but can't find much in our price range.  We have found a couple close to what we want to spend but they're all in Vancouver or Portland and we want to stay around Battle Ground.
Adair Homes is an amazing company.  They build very affordable homes but do not sacrifice quality.  The companies they work with allow them to keep their prices low.  They have one model home at their Woodland office.  We took a walk through with one of their sales guys and absolutely fell in love with the house.  Basically we just want them to build us the model home!  A few minor tweeks here and there but for the most part we want the same house.
This is the one we want.  It's 2,659 sq. feet.  Big house for us.  But it's a good size for a family.
1290 Signature
It has 4 bedrooms plus a den & bonus room with 2 1/2 bathrooms.  We want to flip flop the lower level though.  And I would like a big porch on the back and the one side of the house.
Lower Floor

Upper Floor

Just really super excited about this now.  Even though it won't happen until sometime next year or the next.  But yay house!!
